Shaw Academy Graduates Six
“When people kept telling me I couldn’t, I showed them that I could,” said graduating senior Kelly Young.

Kelly, along with her twin sister, Shelly Young, were among the six seniors to receive diplomas during Shaw Academy’s Spring graduation ceremony Friday morning. Kelly plans to attend Richmond Community College.

Her sister Shelly said she is submitting applications to several universities.

“The teachers at Shaw Academy always had time for me,” she said. “The staff is absolutely wonderful and they really made me feel like I was important.”

Shelly added that it’s because of her experience at Shaw Academy, that she has decided to major in childhood development.

For most of the students, it was a personal choice to attend Shaw Academy. Each cited various distractions at the high school that let them to lose focus.
